Here in the bluegrass state when it comes to winning we usually think about one sport and one team, that being basketball and University of Kentucky. It’s hard to argue those two things, but if you ask Kyle Sniatecki, he may talk about a different team and a different sport. Kyle is the head coach of Eastern Kentucky’s premier girl’s soccer team FC Kentucky 2002. HUNTINGTON – The clicking sound in Ona is the Cabell Midland High School girls soccer team.

The Knights (15-5-2) take on three-time defending state champion Winfield (19-1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Class AAA, Region IV soccer tournament finals at Point Pleasant High School. They’ll be preceded by the Huntington High boys (12-7-1) playing Winfield (14-6-1) at 5 p.m. State tournament berths are up for grabs. HUNTINGTON -Twelve seniors marched out to ovations from the fans on Senior Night for Huntington High boys soccer.

HUNTINGTON – To beat an opponent for the first time in at least five years, teamwork is at a premium.

Everyone on Huntington High School’s boys soccer team played well Thursday night and the effort showed in the result. Five different players scored goals, two other players had assists and goalkeeper Noah Haikal stopped all five shots fired at him as the Highlanders shut out Parkersburg, 5-0, on Highlander mountaintop. The FC Kentucky U13 Girls won the Championship this past weekend at the Virginia Strikers Capital Fall Classic. They defeated top teams from Virginia Beach, Central Virginia, and North Carolina, outscoring their opponents 12 goals to 2.
